The democrats can only blame themselves for this. They could have run anyone else and beaten him. They decided it was her turn, though, and forced her on voters. Getting caught screwing bernie over probably didn't help. A lot of his supporters probably stayed home yesterday.

A lot of people are upset. It's understandable to be unhappy that your candidate didn't win, but the protests are kind of ridiculous. Like him or not, he won a constitutionally mandated election. Having a tantrum isn't going to help. These people need to crawl back to their safe spaces and suck it up. For 8 years, conservatives were told that Obama was president and we had to get behind him. The same goes for the new guy in the office.
The stories about flag burnings piss me off. THe cop shootings are really alarming and scary.

I don't understand the protests.
What is scary to me is the reports of women and non-white/caucasian people being harassed or threatened or worse by supposed Trump supporters.

about the protesters -- maybe they should have tried voting! i'll bet about one in ten actually voted. here's a painful confession -- i voted for hillary! i know, i know, stop! i swore to everybody i wouldn't. but once i got in the booth, i did. mostly because the status quo has been working for me. but y'know, now i'm happy trump won. very exciting! for the first time, after watching george friggin' bush cheat his way into the damn white house twice, i don't believe the system is rigged. it can't be! nobody democratic or republican wanted that crazy beautiful orange bastard to be commander and chief! the system works! and finally, a first lady who looks good in lingerie. and you know, i like the idea that oprah, george clooney, and beonce' are puking in the toilet right now! good! obama spent this whole year in martha's vineyard playing golf! i didn't vote for his big-eared ass twice so he could spend his last year in office lowering his damn handicap! listen fuzzy zoeler, get your bony arse in the damn oval office and do your job! you hen-pecked sack of sh-t! honestly. and hillary, she's half dead with old age. yeah, i know, trump's old too, but he's "ronald reagan" old. he's as strong as an orange bull ox. anyway, let's give the crazy b-stard a chance. he can't be the craziest president we've ever had. grover cleveland and millard fillmore looked a little nuts. right?

It's unfortunate that some mouth breathers have been able to use this to try and give their stupidity validation. twitter.com/shaunkingThey wouldn't have been able to if immigration hadn't been made into a racial issue. It's not. It's a legal issue. I don't go screaming about prejudice every time some drunk is arrested at a St. Patrick's Day parade, so why are hispanics who are here legally upset about illegal aliens being deported? Getting citizenship is hard and all our ancestors had to bust their butts to be here.e're taught as little kids that it's not right to let others cut in line. So why do they want to give people who don't want to follow the rules a free pass?

today paul ryan came out and said that we need a physical barrier on our southern border. a physical barrier? that sounds suspiciously like a wall

I'm sure he's shitting bricks right now since Trump got elected. Maybe he could use those to build the physical barrier. It will be interesting to see if he stays in his position with the new regime.

Honestly, my first reaction was relief when Trump was elected. The neocons in the current administration have been edging closer and closer to war with Russia, and that affects everyone, not just the USA. Trump isn't down with all the anti-Russian rhetoric that Hillary was spouting.
My second reaction was that it feels just like the year 2000 again, when Dubya was elected. That doesn't bode well, if Trump ends up continuing Bush and Obama's terrible foreign policy in the Middle East. That shit has got to stop.
My third reaction was that I'm glad I live in Canada.

listen captain canuck, if it goes bad for us we're not above dragging you down with us! honestly, ever since you people kicked out arses in the war of 1812, it's like yer poo don't stink. i wouldn't worry though -- dubya's world domination schemes were all due to "dashing dick cheney". yes, he was easy on the eyes, but policy-wise, biggus dickus was basically doctor strangelove. and now some music to lighten the mood

I'm not trying to brag about anything, really. Our country elected Justin Trudeau -- whom I like to refer to as "Canada's boyfriend" -- in an election that was just a popularity contest. Our shit stinks just as much as anyone's.
As far as Trump goes, you have to realize by now that the media has been fanning the flames of fear and hatred throughout his whole campaign. The mainstream media was completely in the bag for Hillary, and there was a complete bias in favor of her. That's why the numerous legal issues Hillary has been in were glossed over, while every little thing that Trump said was pounced upon. The New York Times even issued a (half-assed) "kinda-sorta" apology in a letter to their subscribers for being biased against Trump throughout their election coverage (though they never actually admit bias). Now there's a generation of Millennials who literally think that a new Hitler has been elected. So ridiculous, and yet their fears are very real.
I was just as surprised as anyone that Trump was elected, as I was sure he was going to win the election for Hillary. Now that he's won, I've started looking at what he's been saying. People dismiss him as a racist, a bigot, a sexist, etc, but haven't really been looking into why he was able to pull in huge stadium-sized crowds, while Hillary was barely able to fill a school auditorium.
People wanted to stop the Bush-Clinton cycle from continuing, and they were sick of politics as usual. Whatever you and I may think of Trump, this ain't politics as usual. When was the last time a political outsider was elected president?
Every time the media slammed him, or slammed his followers, Trump's points went up. Why was that? Is it because Americans don't like being told what to do. Well, sure, that's part of it, but I think there was mostly a recognition that the mainstream media is not on their side and never has been.
All the name-calling, all the comparisons to Hitler (a sure sign that you've lost the argument) just plain backfired. It's weird, but people don't like being accused of being racists, bigots, etc.
People who voted for him weren't voting for more racism, sexism, police state, etc -- they're excited about seeing America reinvigorated, to bring back jobs that have gone overseas, to close up the many gaps that have allowed so many undocumented illegal immigrants into the country. Who knows whether he'll follow through on his campaign promises.
All I know is that it's an interesting time to be alive.

it is an interesting time to be alive! i remember in august or there abouts, marco rubio's campaign bragged that they did an event & got a crowd of 400 people. one of the reporters on the show i was watching said, "if donald trump got a crowd of 400 people, he'd kill himself!"
