i didn't. that's some sh-t right there! a movie based on mexican blue beetle, one of the most boring and poorly conceived comic characters of modern times bombs, and it's poor hurricane hillary's fault! you might as well blame it on hillary clinton. was anyone on the film murdered?

I never understood the appeal of the Mexican Blue Beetle. His costume looks like it was from the edgy 90s and bears similarities to several established heroes, the origin of his powers is as cliched as you can get (involving the words accidentally/randomly, powerful, alien, and artifact), and his powerset is on the same level as a kid's idea of a cool power (his suit protects the wearer from damage, enhances his physical capabilities, and can produce plot-convenient weapons or abilities).
The source material was already boring, so adding a director that does not know what he's doing really stacks the odds against the movie ever being successful.
The most amusing part is the Nerdrotic youtube channel being accused of racism by people for using a taco pun in the title of his Blue Beetle review. The movie itself is full of taco jokes and the main character likes taco as much as the ninja turtles like pizza.

I've heard some people call the current Blue Beetle a Kamen Rider rip-off, but the bug theme seems to be the only common denominator. |

Danny Trejo should play Booster Gold. Twenty or thirty years go, I would have said make him Lobo. DC keeps missing the mark with casting. They already had the perfect Lobo in Momoa, and then they go and cast him as Aquaman (and to their credit, he wasn't bad for the role. But they could have had other guys.)
They also had a perfect Superman with Brandon Routh, then they saddled him with a lacklustre movie (Superman vs. Big Rock). Then they have Henry Cavill, another perfect Superman with a built-in fanbase and no scandals to his name, and they took him out twice while retaining the problematic Ezra Miller (I like him as Flash, but the dude has problems). They also had a great older/experienced Batman in Ben Affleck, but they fucked that up too. Now Affleck is too old and frustrated with the role that the window has closed.
I have no opinion on Pattinson as Batman. I tried to watch the movie but it looks like they forgot that you can make dark/dimly lit scenes without completely losing visibility. I can hardly see anything in that film. Contrast that with Keaton's first and second Batman films - everything was dark but they used strategically placed lighting so that you can still see what's going on in the screen. Also, I'm kinda burnt out on Batman origin/year one stories. Everybody already knows why and how he became Batman. Marvel had the right approach with Holland's Spider-Man (and DCEU, for their part, did it right with the introduction of Batfleck as an established Batman.)
I got no problems with Gal Gadot. I find her attractive, as long as she doesn't try to save the world again by singing a godawful rendition of Imagine.

Yeah, they really did Cavill dirty. He's a geek, and probably a fan of the character as well. He had a big announcement on his Instagram about returning to the role at the time, dude seems excited as heck. And then a few weeks later, he had to go and do another announcement (this time generic/professionally written) that he's no longer gonna be Supes. Dude was classy about it too. Never said anything bad about it.
Really, Cavill is right up there with Keannu Reeves as one of the guys that comes off as genuinely nice and professional. Even with the Witcher debacle, with all these hitpieces coming out about him, dude did not say one negative thing about Netflix or the Witcher showrunners. Even promoted the trailer for the 3rd season even though he was already out of the picture by then.

if i woke up tomorrow, and i was henry cavill, here's what i'd did. i'd .... no wait, actually i'd go to comics conventions, have sex with all the young perky fans i could lay my hands on, and get addicted to alcohol & pills! i'd r. kelly it hard! okay, let's take me out of it. they are probably going to george reeves his ass. lucky, there are 795 awful tv shows released every year. he'll find work. hollywood IS irrevocably broken. this richard dryfuss interview was an eye opener to me. he's more liberal than any of then, but hates seeing what he loves die. film has basically woke & block-bustered (largely slaves to china) itself into oblivion
