So sources on the inside have said that Paul McGann the fabulous eight doctor is in talks to reprise his role as the 'Doctor' for 3 episodes in the new Doctor Who series (Although it is not clear whether it would be for the coming series or the series after).
It has come from the overwhelming joy and reaction from the fans after his amazing 8 minute minisode 'The Night of the Doctor'.
Personally, as a life long Doctor Who fanatic I think it would be amazing to see him play alongside the equally brilliant Peter Capaldi; as his Doctor in particular has so much more of his story to tell (That is if you haven't read or listened this his audiobook series which I would recommend)
This would be one to really look forward to and a Whovians bucket list contender. moviepilot.com/posts/2014/04/17/spoiler-is-being-considered-for-new-doctor-who-series-1349368?lt_source=external,manual,manual,manual,manual

I like McGann. I am not familiar with his work in the audio novels, but I've seen the TV movie. He would have made a great doctor if given more opportunities (night of the doctor is good, but 8 minutes didn't really let him shine.)
His face makes for a good doctor too. Got that old and kind look to it. Would be nice to see how he shows the fury of a timelord.

I haven't listened to his audio plays but I've heard great things. I actually have one I've downloaded that I've been meaning to listen to forever. I thought he was really great in the movie, too. It's a shame that he didn't get his own series. From what I've heard, though, they would have just redone old scripts and redesigned the Daleks, Cybermen, etc.
