Matt Smith has said that he is happy to reprise his role as the 11th Doctor for a future multi-Doctor anniversary story.
At the Wizard World Con panel, Smith spoke fondly of working with David Tennant: “It was a real historic moment for me. I always look at David and go, ‘Oh my god. It’s Doctor Who!’
“David is a great guy and a good friend. It was so fun. Doctors in the same room is just magic, isn’t it!”
He enthused: “I’ll happily come back for another anniversary!”

It seems like Eccleston is the only one of the New Whos that isn't really willing to return. I've always wondered why Eccleston comes off as so bitter about his stint as the doctor to the point that he hates the franchise itself instead of just the people he worked with. I've read all the stuff about his problems behind the scenes, and I'm honestly confused as to which is real:
a. He didn't like being typecast or all that artsy crap, b. or that the powers that be were already courting Tennant for the role while he's still in the middle of his run, c. same as B, except the powers that be started courting his replacement because he kept running his mouth about leaving after one season.
...doesn't matter which one is true or if all of them. He just comes off as a priss.

i've wondered about that myself. you have to give eccleston a lot of credit for reviving the character, but why is he such a dick about it? a few things I read seem to sound like eccleston considered 'who' a kid's show, and he had to dumb himself down. i think at the time he hated the show and wanted out, and now he's making excuses. he absolutely has no small opinion about his own talent. did yall see 'shallow grave'?

I've never seen him in anything outside of Doctor Who and I probably never would have heard of him if it hadn't been for the show. I'm sure that's the case for a lot of people.
He really comes off as an idiot when you compare David Tennant and Matt Smith's attitude compared to his. Hell, even Tom Baker came back for the 50th and that douche couldn't?

I saw some movie where Matt Smith's character died and then his grief struck lover made a clone of him...raised the kid and then when he finally caught up to look like "Matt Smith" (apparently accelerated growth was a factor) he wigged out when he found out what happened and raped her before walking out the door.
It was a seriously messed up movie. I don't even like thinking about it.

Karen Gillan, on the other hand, seems to be doing big things.

Yeah, Gillan's got it made. I was afraid that she's going to sputter out after getting a rom-com and a horror gig, plus the reports about getting drunk in public. And then BAM! Comic book film with Marvel! She's got a fight scene to boot, which is amazing for someone who didn't even look convincing during Doctor Who's running scenes.

He must've done that right before Doctor Who.
Wow. Even the cover to that is disturbing

I looked up the movie on netflix and saw it got only a 2 star rating from members. Doesn't look like something I want to see.

Yeah, I have a feeling it wasn't that movie that made them bring him in for an audition.

Yeah, like I said...it was quite disturbing.
Hell, I can't believe I watched it.
As a side note, the actress shown in that image, is in the new Showtime series, Penny Dreadful....as is Billie Pipper and Timothy Dalton.

Good. I like Piper and Dalton. I don't have Showtime so I'll have to wait for it to go to Netflix. I had to do that with Dexter.

Dalton might not have been a great Bond but he plays a great villain.
