does anyone here bother with a watch anymore? they're pretty archaic at this point. I mean, when you ain't watching or posting funny kitty videos on yer phone or texting, or doing both at once while youre driving, it still tells time. if you wear one, what brand of watch do you prefer? myself, i love watches. i'm practically the damn clock king. watches are the only thing of any value i can even begin to afford to collect. yeah, there are toys, but the damn things take up too much space! my daughter has more toys than fao schwarz already. cars? i'm not jerry friggin' Seinfeld!! anyway, what do you wear, and you don't necessarily have to post ther pichurs

I pretty much just use my phone, now, but I have a Kenneth Cole watch I need to get a new battery for. Before that, I had a Mickey Mouse watch I loved and wore forever. The last watch before that was all the way back in the 80s. It was a Swatch watch and looked positively psychedelic!

hairbutt, you scared me. I googled "classique" and a company called breguet makes a 'classique' watch that usually goes somewhere between the 20 to $50,000 range!
then I saw a company called just 'classique' that seems to sell a lot of watches in Australia. thanks! I hadn't heard of them before. they make some nice looking pro divers, which is my weakness

It was a Swatch watch and looked positively psychedelic! i never has a swatch! weird, i had a kenneth cole that was really beautiful, had a great looking brown band. i got caught in a rainstorm and the band basically disintegrated! and got so much destroyed band crud on the watch it was no good anymore. that turned me against 'fashion' watches, and got me into liking more toolish watches. The best thing in my incredibly limited price range are Seikos. when japan had the tsunami and the 4 nuclear power plant meltdowns, when Seiko put out a press release that they were okay and still in production, i was so relieved, i can't even tell you

Ha! Cool mh. Had a look to see if they still make my watch and found it! Though I'm onto the third leather band now. i believe it, the thing's a tank! i like it. the date marker at the bottom is kind of neat, you don't see that too often. i think i'll bring up 'classique' at my watch forum and get the low-down. i seen this skeleton aviator watch they make. i don't usually like skeletons, but this one really does it for me. my birthday is in a couple of months, i should start dropping hints to the family

oooops! i just checked the price, it goes for $1595.00! that's way more than the value of my whole collection combined. that's a shame, it looks great & has a nice swiss mvt.
oh, my latest acquisition and whast i'm wearing now is a Casio 1EV Marine Ana-Digi Dive Watch, like the one schwarzenegger wore in kindergarden cop! yeah, sadly that is the reason i bought it. but it's really nice looking & solid. the model is still in production after all these years. arnold wore one particular Seiko in several his films, and collectors call it 'the arnie'.

Got a Hermes Tank watch. Went into the Hermes shop in Singapore last year and the sales guy described it as "vintage". Fuck, I thought, I bought it in 2001. How old are you, boychild?
Got a really old Vacheron & Constantine watch from the 1910s. I love it but its from before the company jacked up the prices and the quality and became luxury brand, and so its a little dodgy.

I used to wear a watch all the time but eventually stopped for some reason. I think it was because the leather strap broke, and I never found a good replacement. I might have to go find one now, though, that I'll be working outside the home again.
My former manager has a huge collection of watches. He's a bit of a compulsive buyer of watches, and Apple products.

you should have at least one! even if it's just an inexpensive beater. even a cheap quarts watch is accurate as heck these days. most cheap watches have miyota (citizen) movements. some of the guys from the watch forum I frequent have huge collections like your former manager. he's likely a member there. i'm down to about 12, but I have a couple in the mail. this pic is from a guy from buenos aries who has a massive g-shock collection. the is called "my vintage g-shock collection part 2". so there are more! considering g-shocks cost usually between 200 & 400 bucks on the average i believe, he's invested some $$$$$

it's true, I really am! actually I was gonna use "chronos, the time bandit" for my watch forum avatar, but I couldn't find a pichur like i liked. for me it's the 70's justice league version, with a big downward arrow drawn on his forehead

Got a really old Vacheron & Constantine watch from the 1910s. I love it but its from before the company jacked up the prices and the quality and became luxury brand, and so its a little dodgy. damn!! you're not screwing around. the hermes tank, i looked up. retail, it costs more than my car! (to explain, i'm on a system where my wife gets the new-ish car, and i get to drive an old piece of crap. the idea being, if it breaks down i'm better equipped to get it towed or whatever & find a way home. the current one is a '98 ford escort wagon. we recently drove it 2000 plus miles to visit family. I was so wrong to hate fords all these years. i love it the thing, it's a beast!)
vacheron & constantine, i've actually heard of. that's a great old brand. my G-d! i'd love to have a watch from the 30's or previously. is it a pocket watch? i'm guessing it values for at least $3000. the newer models appear to go for 30k or so -- depending on the model. i actually have a rolex submariner. i got it from a guy in china on ebay for $41.00! i've had a real rolex on my wrist, and this thing looks and runs well enough, but no sir, it is no rolex
my plan is to one day sell off my entire collection and drop around $800.00 on the 'apocalypse now' Seiko.
but all watch guys have a 'grail', and mine is the 1958 bond rolex. but that one ain't gonna happen! for the uninitiated, in the first bond film the director took off his old rolex and put it on connery. and the iconic bond rolex was born. I did get a bond strap for my fake though.

The Hermes Tank was around $3500, 12 years ago. The V&C was around $1000. As I said, a new V&C would set you back a lot more - maybe $15000?
