he made it to 89! nice!! as i recall, he was the only guy on gilligan's island who HS girls in the 80's thought was kind of hot. i was of the last generation who got to watch GI when they got home from school. that's it! i'm buying DVD's of the show for my daughter. i already shoved 'batman' (which she was okay with), and 'pee wee's playhouse' (which she loved) down her throat! and she shoved i-carly, victorius, and 'shake it up' down my throat! fair is fair

I grew up watching it, too. Mary Ann was my favorite. Hot as hell and she could make a coconut cream pie without flour or an oven!
MH, did you mean it's out of syndication?

I was more referring to his stint in WW2. How funny to think that a guy who gets shot down over enemy territory ends up portraying a goofy professor in a much loved comedy.

yeah! i he went down in a plane & broke both his ankles! you'd think the skipper could've just torn the whole axis armies apart by himself! i was doing a big move across several states last year, and had a ton of books on cd to listen to from friends & whatever while i (my wife too, but 90% me) was cleaning out my house -- and i had, amoung many others, the professor's book on cd narrated by him! he had an interesting life & did lots of films prior to gilligan. and at the point of gilligan he was nearly 40 & close to leaving acting & doing something else, if he didn't hit soon. and i remember he had a son who died from AIDS. He seemed like a great guy though. Apparently everyone on that show was -- except ginger maybe. dang though, you like mary ann at 14, but by 25, you're ready for ginger!

They can build a stage but not a raft to float into shipping lanes. Dumb arses.

Heck, they built bycicles and metal detectors out of bamboo and coconuts, yet they couldn't fix a two foot hole in a boat.
