Web-based series are becoming all the rage these days, especially with the Apple TV and PS3 letting you watch web-based programming on your TV. Netflix has a few original series now. Another website called Crackle, available online and through Apple TV, has at least a couple of original shows as well. One of those is called Ch:os:en.
It stars the Peter Petrelli guy from Heroes, and Diedrich Bader (one of my favorites) was in a couple of episodes.
The basic premise of the series is this: An ordinary guy, the actor who played Peter Petrelli, who's a lawyer and a divorced dad finds a box at his doorstep one day. Within the box is a photograph of someone taken from a zoom lens at a great distance. Beneath the photo is the person's name, and an expiration date, which is 48 hours from now. Also in the box is a handgun whose serial numbers have been shaved off.
Then Peter Petrelli is shot at from across the street, and he jumps back into his house, terrified. He calls the police, and they arrive, and he's questioned by a detective who grills him, but acts strangely and drops exact information about where the man in the photograph lives. Then the detective leaves the gun with the man, and the police leave.
When Peter Petrelli goes to meet the man in the photograph, Diedrich Bader, who's an ordinary dentist, he shows him the photo, and Diedrich Bader runs from him. Eventually Peter Petrelli meets and talks with him and a couple of others who were sent to kill him, and he learns that a lot of other people have been chosen to be assassins, including Diedrich Bader, who's supposed to kill a housewife with several kids. And all their targets appear to be other people who were chosen as well. And all of them are ordinary people whose family are being threatened if they don't kill the people they're supposed to kill.
Each episode is about 20 minutes long, and the seasons are only six episodes each. I'm nearly done Season 1, and Season 2 was recently released. Anyone watch this yet? It's not bad.
