Really great episode. I like the way they killed Danny. I mean, I hate the character but it's refreshing that he got offed in a normal way. There's no big melodramatic battle or a scene where he had to sacrifice himself. Dude just got run over by a car. It's a great contrast to saving Clara and the Doctor from a Skovox Blitzer and a Tiger. Of course, the way the story is going, he's going to be brought back to life.
Clara is really getting on my nerves. Her boyfriend died and she went ahead took the TARDIS keys hostage, not even minding that they could have been both stuck in a volcano? And that's after all the trust that the doctor (and the TARDIS) gave her - she's the only companion shown to have knowledge of where all the keys are hidden.
In contrast, I like the fact that Capaldi's doctor is being sold as crass and less sympathetic than previous incarnations, but he actually comes off as the opposite. Forgiving Clara and actually helping her bring back Danny? It shows class. Clara could have been thrown out of the TARDIS if she tried that with some of the other incarnations. Amy was almost sent back home just for deciding for the doctor, and Captain Jack was literally avoided simply because his immortality offends Tenth. Trying to destroy the TARDIS keys probably ranks high in the doctor's list of mortal sins.
I feel like the twist with the skeletons being cybermen would have had more impact if they didn't show the Cybermen everywhere in the previews and teasers. It's not like they need the Cybermen to drum up attention for the finale. It was a waste of opportunity for a major twist.
Missy's identiy, though. Man. I've already suspected it and countless other fans have already guessed correctly, but it's still a pretty big and satisfying reveal. I'm glad he's back. Or she. I hope she doesn't get killed yet. It would be fun to have an ongoing threat from the doctor's counterpart again.
