Sweet mother of God, this is driving me crazy! I first notice the itching on Friday and by Monday it looked like someone had taken a cheese grater to my back. Plus, I've had non-stop fierce headaches, flue-like feelings & fever, and damned nausea. I can't even look at food without feeling like I'm going to yack
On the plus side, I'll probably drop some weight. I could stand to drop a few pounds. I've got Stan SMith's bod. Basically, throw some grey in that hair and a Race Bannon hairdo and he's the cartoon me.

damn!!! i'm, sorry pal. what are they doing for it? i used to think you had to be in your 90's to get it, but i worked with a girl who had it in her 20's. she said she got it from being stressed out. it ain't nothing to play around with. during a flare up it's contagious, isn't it? hers went thru long dormant periods where she was fine. everybody who has had chicken pox is carrying it, but your immune system usually blocks it. that's all i know. but i hear it hurts like hell! damn, sorry, i hope you can get it managed

I'm not sure how contagious it is, but I'm pretty much in quarantine to keep the people we know with weak immune systems from getting sick. I didn't even know I'd had chicken pox when I was a little kid, but apparently I did and was just too young to remember.
I'm gonna go nuts. I get out little enough as it is since I can't drive because of the damn seizures.

i saw where it said if you're relatively young -- it should clear up in a few weeks. doesn't sound too bad. and you shouldn't get the nerve pain like old people do. i guess it's more of a nuisance medical condition than a completely "oh sh-t" condition. do you think your immune system is low, or are you just overly stressed from writing too many klanger's crazy jokes ? i got chicken pox at 28! it was a living hell. i took probably 20 hot showers a day. it was the only thing that helped

It might be stress. There's a lot I want to do to get ready for the foster/adopt thing. This isn't helping!
You can't get stressed from Klanger's crazy jokes. Those babies practically write themselves!

That looks pretty cool. They've been talking for years about some sort of sequel to the movie. I've got the book it was taken from, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep", but I haven't read it yet. It's amazing how much of his stuff turned into movies over the years. Gah! The shingles are spreading on my chest. I feel like this!

was that a novella or a full book? i had it at one time, but never read it. i've heard phillip k. dick was nuts! I think harlan ellison said that. i love the movie. definitely in my top ten. i even got to see in the theater! in this art-house theater in around 2007 or so. that was a nice experience. the game looks pretty cutting edge for 1997. give it a try. as great as harrison ford was in blade runner, the best performance by far was rutger hauer. who was wonderful in 'hobo with a shotgun'! the movie sucked, but he was magical

does anything topical help it, like hydrocortisone? as a kid i got mummified by poison oak! it was like this!
"lordy don't it itch!!"
stephen king in creepshow! but in my teens i discovered hydrocortisone, and my last big attack of poison oak cleared up in days. i've never had it since. you change every few years. maybe i'm immune now

It looked like a full book. I've read a bunch of his stuff. The one everyone talks about is "The Man in the High Castle" where we lost WWII and the US has been split up between Germany and Japan. Rutger Hauer was my favorite part of Bladerunner, too. That movie probably changed the way people looked at sci-fi movies.

That sucks. Three people in my family had shingles, and it's not fun.

It's better than it was but still itches like crazy. From what I've heard, it never really goes completely away.

That's kind of what I felt like! It's passed, but I'm feeling a little cruddy today. I hope I'm not in for another flare up.
