seeing 'vs' drop big in it's second weekend in the states, warner bros had hoped 'batman vs superman' would open huge in china -- star wars huge! lots of people in china, and they love their action movies. china has bailed out lots of bond films that tanked in the us. but the bat-supes behemoth couldn't stand up to a 64 y.o. 300 pound kung-fu legend! who knew this guy was still making movies ?

“Batman v Superman” occupied fourth spot of the Chinese box office on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but ranked third over the three-day period, earning $12.6 million (RMB81.8 million,) narrowly ahead of “Zootopia” which earned $12.5 million (RMB81.4 million.)
Action drama “My Beloved Bodyguard” (aka “The Bodyguard”) debuted on top and scored $25.2 million (RMB164 million.) Directed by veteran martial arts star Sammo Hung, and starring Hung and Andy Lau, the Hong Kong-Chinese co-produced film claimed top spot on each day.

Dang. I thought that was just old age girth in the Bodyguard teaser. But from that Bruce Lee clip, it looks like he was never a light weight. Amazing he could do somersaults like that.

Yeah, he's always been big boned. Both him and Jackie Chan (they grew up together in a theater troupe, along with Yuen Biao, who was the late bloomer in terms of popularity) were part of the wave of Bruce Lee clones that China groomed when Bruce made it big overseas. Sammo's gimmick is that he's the Fat Dragon.

it's interesting stuff. they were very serious martial artists. i read that those three went to south korea and studied under a grand master who sounds like something out of 'kill bill'! brutal training & doing handstands against a wall for hours
