This game is so addicting I've played the shit outta it, beaten it 2 times already... I must say it's very impressive I was expecting the same engine from GTA IV to be used but luckily it wasn't. GTA 5 is set in the City of Los Santos much like GTA SA was... unlike other GTA titles you play as 3 characters on GTA 5 each with their own special ability

Franklin Clinton
Trevor Phillips
The Special abilities for each of these characters are and direct from a Article at Examiner back before the game was released
Franklin can slow down time during driving segments while Michael has a similar ability in regards to shooting. Moreover, Trevor has a skill that enables him to take less damage while dealing more in return. The special abilities of the three characters can be activated by filling a bar.
Trevor's special ability is my favorite one when dealing more in return that means his weapons pack more firepower.
