I would shoot a million endangered gorillas if it meant saving my son.

That's crazy. I'm surprised PETA hasn't put a price on the four year old's head. Why the hell was he able to get in there anyway?

He got away in a split-second and jumped over the three-foot fence. These things happen even to the most watchful parents. The zoo made the right decision. The gorilla would've killed that kid eventually, even if it was accidentally. He was dragging the kid around like a rag doll. EDIT: Here's how it all went down:

Damn. I'd never seen the video before, but I'd be freaking the f*k out if my son had got away from me and jumped into the gorilla enclosure.

that's tough to watch! i'd have been freaking out. there was a similar situation a couple of years ago where the gorilla seemed to be guarding the kid that fell in. this one is more like when a tiger went nuts and started dragging sigfried (or roy?) around by the neck when he got confused. americans react so stupidly about everything lately! the guy that murdered the lion, that was bad. the child being saved here was actually a great thing. imagine if it had gone the other way? wow, I don't want to think about it.

Why is there even n a question about what was the right course of action? Something has gone fundamentally wrong with the mindset of the world.

baboon, if you don't want to get pissed off, please don't read the youtube comments! stuff like "why is the life of one mammal more important than another?" jezus. i blame the college student microagression mentality. where practically everything is a hate crime. and it's seeping into the rest of america. it's why guys like jerry seinfeld say they'd never play colleges today like they used to. you can't make jokes about anything. fine, you're suppose to be stupid when you're still in school, but they are abusing the privilege. it's a pretty easy call. shoot the damn ape -- it was acting like a dick! i may be biased. when that chimp ripped a woman's face off a few years ago i went incredibly anti-monkey. a big deal for me because in the late 70's little mh loved this little guy!
so cute! he had a banana you could stick in his mouth! back when that happened to that lady i told people if i was a billionaire i'd fly around the world machine-gunning chimpanzees to death, trying to make them extinct. i was serious! g-d how they'd hate me on college campuses. i'd be vilified as a monster!

Ha! I used to have one of those, too!
It's bad enough chimpanzee's will go after your face and finger, but they'll bite off your privates, too! It's bad enough to be left disfigured. Why do they have to go all Ramsay Bolton on your ass?

man, chimps are hella strong. Used to think nothing of them, there was a pet chimp that was chained in one of the houses I used to pass by as a kid. We were always warned not to go anywhere near it, but I thought what could that thing do to us, it's so thin. One day we saw it get a hold of a street dog and literally tear it apart with its bare hands in the ensuing fight.
