Since we have a toddler, we played one of those cartoon New Year's Eve countdowns on Netflix for the little guy, then sent him to bed by 9 PM, which is late for him. The Missus and I watched a movie called Sully that was pretty good for not being a sci-fi or a comedy (the only two genres we tend to watch together).
The movie ended just before midnight, and we watched the countdown on a YouTube live stream of a broadcast taped in Ottawa three hours earlier, then spent the next hour watching random YouTube channels and making fun of them.
We stayed indoors all day New Year's Day and took our Christmas tree and all the decorations down.

that sounds like a perfect new years. i saw 'santa vs the martians' on tv on new years eve when i was a kid, so i have to see at least a little of it every year, if possible. i took a nap, so's i could stay up at midnite & still get up a 5 the next morning. we watched a movie that nite i can't remember what ... my brain must be shot. oh, did you see mariah carey on dick clark's rockin' new years eve? me and the kid looked at each other in stunned disbelief. it's kind of too bad. too bad it wasn't beonce that is. oh i remember now, we watched alfred hitchcock's the birds! i felt like seeing something 'end of the world'-ish

Dang! The Dick Clark people won't let me see the video! I haven't gotten to see what a hot mess it was, but I heard she's claiming sabotage. She should have just quickly started doing an Irish jig like Ashley Simpson and hurried off the stage.

It looks like her earpiece might have cut out on her, but it's one of her oldest hits from like 20 years ago Shouldn't she have some idea of the lyrics by now or at least be able to wing it a little?

I haven't seen it yet, but after reading the circumstances, I think it could have been intentional sabotage. Who knows why, but Hollywood/entertainment industry likes to humiliate their stars on a regular basis. The Ashley Simpson one also looks like it could have been done intentionally.
Ironically, Mariah Carey comes from a generation of singers who could actually sing without the aid of any technological enhancements such as autotune. Her first album was 1990. She's a very good singer.
But the industry standard nowadays is using prerecorded tracks. All the big stars do it. So it's strange that she's being lampooned for something all the big stars are doing.

you can see it above, the link is still up. she threw in a couple of those high pitched voice things she does, but they said she was too wired up to hear, to actually sing well. it's being compared to the janet Jackson/Justin timberlake 2004 superbowl half-time show
