it made 19 million over the weekend & 'forbes' is calling it a bomb. I gave it the old 'sex & the city: the movie' test, and in 2008 'sex' made 57 million in it's opening. weekend. ouch. because all yer aunts, wives, and mamas rushed out to see it immediately! this should have got the same sort of 'bump' from genre fanboys & stephen king fans. those f-ckers at the SK forum are buying rolls of tickets and are eating, sleeping, sh-tting & whacking off in the theaters trying to make it a hit! and are at the same time incredibly disappointed with it. my take, judging from the preview, it's confusing & badly cast. Is the book unfilmable? It was 'spose to spin off into a TV series produced by the walking dead people. i sort of don't think it will

I agree it was horrible casting. They needed someone who evoked Clint Eastwood circa his spaghetti western days. Hell, they could have even hired Eastwood's kid now that he's got "Fury" under his belt. If they wanted Idris Elba in it because he's hot right now, let him be the Wizard. He's menacing enough.
Another problem is, I've heard it doesn't have much in common with the books.
