He played the dad in the "The Fires of Pompeii" episode with the tenth Doctor and Donna.

His biggest claim to fame is the show he used to star in called "The Thick of It" for which he won a BAFTA and two British Comedy Awards. I think BAFTA's are like England's EMMYs.
