He then grabs a woman passerby and tells her "Look at my toupee, damn it! This isn't the same piece I had on when I woke up this morning. Yes, it feels great, and looks fantastic, but I still want to know what is going on! Nobody but me and a select group of very close friends and family and trusted surgeons and hair stylists messes with my toupee!"

goddamn social media. Lots of good websites and blogs were lost as people moved over to microblogging, where it's just an endless cycle of people giving their two cents' worth on topics that are "trending" at the time. Lots of opinions these days, not enough creativity. I miss the days when people actually spent the time to write two paragraphs' worth of text about what they ate for breakfast. Now they summarize a whole day's worth of story in 100 characters and a hashtag.

It didn't help when Google closed down Google Reader. I read most blogs that way. I've used Feedly and Netvibes to try to replace Google Reader, but they're just so different that I haven't gotten used to checking them very often. I imagine readership has suffered quite a bit overall. Now all the blogs on Facebook are fighting over likes by posting linkbait like LOLcats and the like. Pretty sad.
