I just binged the whole John Wick franchise in one afternoon (except for that TV series). I'm in the minority in this, I think, as the John Wick franchise is extremely popular, but I think of the franchise the same way I do The Matrix's. They should have stopped after the first film.
Not that the sequels are super awful, but they overexplained the lore and made things too complicated. They removed all the mystique from the story. The first John Wick had Wick as really intriguing and scary because it leaves a lot of things about his past to interpretation. Then the sequels made it all too silly with this clandestine society of killers with all sorts of rules and whatnot. It became too detached from the real world. With the first film, you can sort of picture it happening in the real world but the sequels required a lot more suspension of disbelief.
I'm also burned out on overchoreographed fight scenes, it's starting to look like all action scenes were performed by guys who went to the same dojo or something.

i watched the 2nd matrix in the theater, and halfway thru i was wishing i'd gone over to see the scared black people movie that was showing across the hall instead
yeah, the fight scenes. it seems like every director has agreed, "okay, this is the way ALL fight scenes must look now." i didn't like the (much copied for a while) borne identity stuff. it made my head hurt! but it was different.
i watched the final bill & ted movie. it was good, except ted could not smile anymore. too much botox i guess.

Scary Movie? That brings me back! I've been watching that series since I was a little virgin. It's 3 days later and i'm still watching.

Another pet peeve is that if they have a woman fighting, they're going to do the head scissor thing at some point. It's a really stupid looking move that only works if you're a masked mexican wrestler. If Scarlett Johansson tries that on any man (and some women), she's going to get powerbombed and maybe get her vag licked a bit.

get her vag licked a bit?!! yeah, you don't get past the lack of upper body strength. i seen a youtube video once where king kong bundy said about andre the giant, "imagine hitting someone just as hard as you can and they don't even know it." just like a giant and a people are different, a man and a girl are different. all the training in the world and even if you shoot her cute ass full of crack, can't make kate winslet a match for conor mcGregor. these fight scenes only work if the woman is wearing an exo-skeleton! then i'm down with it. then i have no problem.

Kids too. No kid can take a grown man in a fight. It makes you wonder if Batman actually had WAY more Robins that died or were maimed in the line of duty, and he just kept replacing them.

In one Marshall Law mini-series, there was a Batman like character named Private Eye who had a whole string of sidekicks. It turned out he was using them for replacement organs to fight injury and aging.

Robin's official job designation is not sidekick, it's meat shield. Kinda like Batman's yellow oval logo - is it any wonder that Batman is wearing a black/grey costume while his meat shield is decked out in bright colors?

This is why the fight scene from Step Brothers is one of the most realistic depictions of a fight between kids and an adult man.
