i have a friend who's got a birthday coming up, and he's a GL fan. he may have a lot of fairly current stuff, but I doubt he has much past 10 years ago. are there any GL 'must haves', reprint sets or otherwise, that would make a good gift?
btw, why do I keep seeing pics of alan scott kissing boys? is there something I should know?

With the Nu-52 reboot, they basically changed everything that was cool about the JSA heroes oncethey put them back on an Earth-2. They took away their history and made them younger and less experienced than the JLA. Since Alan Scott's son had been the gay hero before, they made Alan Scott gay this go around.
I don't have a problem with gay heroes, but I do have a problem with changing existing heroes for the sake of diversity.

I realized I didn't really answer your main question. If he doesn't have anything from the past ten years, I'd see if there's a trade paperback of the Sinestro Corps storyline. That was really epic.

There is a tpb of the Len Wein/Dave Gibbons run from the mid80s, when John Stewart becomes GL. I think it is called "Green Lantern 2814". Nice Gibbons art. Great back-up stories in the originals, by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, too.
