It's cold here, on the other hand. Way colder than what the country should be. A couple of days ago we've reached 8C, and for the first time the weather outside is actually colder than the fridge. The people in Manila are loving the cooler weather, but the southern parts of the country, which is normally cold throughout the rest of the year, are suffering from cold that is affecting their livelihood (a lot of people there make their living through agriculture and fishing, both of which are affected by the extreme cold) naturally, the effect is making its way to Manila soon as we get hit by rising prices in vegetables and fish, since majority of our supplies are from the Southern parts of the country.

'winter storm hercules' gave us 8 inches of snow, the low last nite was -17, and the high today is suppose to be only minus 10! durn, i hope my poor car has got enough antifreeze in it That storm was a mahomajor pain in the ass. In my area (45 minutes northwest of Detroit) we got about 18 inches of snow and then the temperature dropped to single digits and wind chills well be low zero. That damn Polar Vortex shit has been back the last few days...the temps haven't been above the high teens, again, and the wind chill is back down around - 15°F. I'm ready for this shit called winter to be over. It's too fucking cold outside!

Thanks to the surprise winter storm we had here, I had to walk to my daughter's school to get her. With all the abandoned cars, wrecked cars in ditches, and slow walking people, it was like being on the set of the walking dead. The freaky part, on the way to my daughter's school, was seeing a lady who'd gotten stranded pushing a baby stroller. I hope she wa able to ge somewhere warm.
My wife had jury duty, so she was downtown when it hit us. She spent about 12 hours in her car before she was able to move. SHe never did make it home. Too much ice and snow. Shehad to sleep in the lobby of the La Quinta Inn. Atleast they have a room freeing up so she can sleep in a bed tonight.
