Dang! I haven't seen snow like that since I was a kid in Tennessee. Here in Birmingham, the town goes into shut down mode at even the mention of snow and everyone races to the store for milk, bread, and eggs. I guess snow makes everyone crave French toast.

I guess snow makes everyone crave French toast. hey, i was a kid in tennessee too! funny, i went to the supermarket on saturday and it was like thunderdome. no, people were nice and all, but the shelves were half bare. a lady randomly told me, "i wanted a pizza, but everything i like is gone!" i bought lots of frozen mac & cheese for the kid, milk, bread & stuff and a large container of vodka. so let it snow all it wants! out here, it snows so much people are passé about it, it's just a fact of life. the schools are closing today & tomorrow, because they don't want the tots freezing solid like icicles waiting for the bus

People here are genuinely bewildered by the sight of snow. I guess they must think a durn icee truck jacknifed.
The schools aren't closing here. Just opening two hours later.

well, so far it's up to one degree today. yay. they're calling this the 'polar vortex'. i'm pretty sure it's the dawn of a new ice age. if it is, we're gonna have to pollute like crazy to get the greenhouse gasses to a point where the planet will warm back up, or theres gonna be friggin polar bears everywhere

It's just rain here and it gets real cold at night. Typical winter weather for us.

In a bit of irony, here in Canada (in Vancouver, at least), it's kind of warm. Raining right now.

It's warm in Canada and cold in the south? Dear God! The Earth has somehow tilted on its axis!

Yeah, we had only two snowfalls so far, both in December. Both melted in the rain after a couple of days. No White Christmas this year.
It's cold in the rest of Canada, though. The west coast always has different weather.

It's starting to go back up here, but the dang dogs' water dish still hasn't thawed out yet. i wonder if, after the killed the crooked cop & the asian guys, he went back & got his fingers (i think it was the top of two -- he had eight good fingers left), iced them down and went to the hospital to get 'em sewed back on. probably not. but since he ended up with that girl at the end, you'd think he'd have wanted as many fingers as possible, i'll tell you. as bryan used to say, "she made my pants move". hey, i just found out she married bryan brown, the guy from FX! omg, how i loved those movies. they don't make 'em like that no more. another google and i seen that mgm is going to do a remake. hugh jackman? no, too on the nose. oh, and there was a short lived FX tv series! i did not know that MH, you mackerel snapper! you posted all this in the weather thread! And yes, she made my pants move.

Down here, its freaking hot. 44 Celsius last week. Fires on the outskirts of the city burned 40 houses down and killed one. The heatwave has moved east onto South Australia and Victoria. The Australian open tennis is being played by cooked zombies. Ridiculous: they should postpone the event rather than have the athletes suffer from heat stroke.
