Steven Moffat's revealed that he's looking to make Peter Capaldi's Doctor more in the Tom Baker/Christopher Eccleston "mad and dangerous and difficult" mold, rather than the Matt Smith/David Tennant "quirky young man" one. He elaborated on what's going to be going on with the Doctor and Clara when the show returns:
Now we're going to give her a Doctor who's not like that at all [The Eleventh Doctor], who's a much older, fiercer, madder, less reliable Doctor, who leads her a merry dance. And she's trying to keep him a secret and she's now working in a school...
He's also contemplating a return for River Song, saying:
I'm slightly tempted, because I imagine Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston would be absolutely hilarious together...

I'd love this. I especially love that Capaldi's age will probably stop a lot of the doctor/companion 'shipping going on with female fans.
I'm hoping they bring back Captain Jack, though. I loved Children of Earth but on the whole, I don't like that Torchwood dials up the adult elements when Jack Harkness' playful personality works so much better in Doctor Who because his sexuality isn't shoved in people's faces.

I'd love this. I especially love that Capaldi's age will probably stop a lot of the doctor/companion 'shipping going on with female fans. I'm hoping they bring back Captain Jack, though. I loved Children of Earth but on the whole, I don't like that Torchwood dials up the adult elements when Jack Harkness' playful personality works so much better in Doctor Who because his sexuality isn't shoved in people's faces. I agree that Captain Jack seemed to work better in Doctor WHo than even his own series. Barrowman has been clamoring to come back for years, just as fans have been clamoring for him to come back. It would be nice if Moffat would listen. Ican't wait to see pictures of Capaldi in his Doctor gear. They've just started filming, so hopefully pictures will surface soon. |

Yep.
I must confess I prefer the goofy quirky Doctor than the eccentric dangerous version. Anyway, I guess we'll see.
I would also like to see Captain Jack return. Torchwood wasn't that great and seem to be overshadowed by the myriad permutations of the characters' romances. Lets shagging, more dealing with weird threats.
