here we go!! leaving the films out, only live-action teevee, for me it's:
1.) the original series (no explanation necessary)
2.) voyager (wait, stop! put down those damn torches! for me the first two seasons of ST:TNG are practically unwatchable. unwatchable!! the crew couldn't stay out of the damn hologram vacation machine for 15 minutes. and there was no conflict, they were all so evolved & didn't carry the stench of humanity like in the original series. it often seemed very sterile. and janeway was a bitch! just like kirk. a starship needs a bitch! and 7 was so hot -- jezus friggin' jones! more later) 3.)The Next Generation (picard. need i say more? so contained, he was a huge contrast to kirk who often acted like a brilliant infant. it hurt the show somewhat i think, that they put an actor in who's like a 3rd degree black belt thespian, working beside some people who are at soap opera level. but by season 4, the actors and everything else improved, and they were really cooking.)
4.)Enterprise (i hated the phasers! omg, did i hate them. that asian chick was a pain in the butt. kirk would've transferred her arse -- after he banged her. and here's an idea, hire a guy to write a damn theme song! one you can use when the show goes into syndication. there were really good episodes -- i liked a lot in the beginning -- and a lot of bad ones.) 5:) deep space 9 (for me, it was often really boring. it became very geo-political which was kind of interesting. and i liked sisko.)

For me, the list goes...
1) Original Star Trek
2) Star Trek: The Next Generation
3) Tie between Deep Space Nine and Voyager
4) Enterprise

do you subscribe to what sheldon & leonard say on the big bang theory? trek over st:tng, but picard over kirk? st:tng is better than voyager at both their bests. but i was one of them (many) people who disliked data, which somewhat poisoned the whole show for me. but then i liked him a lot in the borg movie. strange.

How could you spend time hating on Data when Wesley was just there asking for it?
And yeah, Picard probably was a more professional captain.

okay yeah, i hated wesley too, but i cut him some slack 'cause i lieked his mom. the only decent thing that guy ever did (sorry to bring up big bang theory again), are his (totally unrercognizable as wesley crusher) guest appearances as sheldon's nemesis on the big bang theory. hey wait, he wasn't in any of the trek movies right? just realized that. that must've sucked. whew, he looks like what all tv star kids hope they won't look like when they grow up

I wonder if he looked like that when they decided not to use him in any of the movies.

As Wesley grew older and uglier in his adulthood, he must surely have realized that Riker had just put his mind into a completely different guy's body, not his own a few years older. Such a prankster. BTW, I think Wesley was supposed to be in STAR TREK: NEMESIS, but all the scenes he was in, except for one brief cameo, were cut during editing. But didn't Wesley get godlike powers sometime during the TNG series? He always reminded me of Franklin Richards because of that. There's a TV Trope (almost) named after him: The Wesley, also known as Creator's Pet. ***

Interestingly, Gene Roddenberry's middle name is Wesley, leading many fans to accuse him of creating Wesley Crusher as a kind of Mary Sue character.

no, he was a marty stu! i just read up on the whole mary sue thing. facinating!!!! i guess in a way scout from 'to kill a mockingbird', holden caufeild from 'catcher in the rye', every starring kid from a ray bradbury novel, and elliot from e.t., and harry potter were all mary sues. weird how the whole mary sues thing sprang from trek itself from a trek fanzine article, and wesley became just about it's perfect male incarnation
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Sue
(look, they're enjoying it)

Yeah, I think it was referring to that episode with Joan Collins where they went back in time.
