it seems to me there are more good situation comedies on now than there has been since the time of seinfeld. 'modern family' is just great. yeah, i know, it's won a butt load of emmys, which makes some people think it must be crap
to me, 'the middle' which doesn't get nearly as much attention, is just as funny. the little guy is hilarious!
'portlandia' and 'garfunkel and oates' are very funny. but they're edgy, and barely situation comedies. my wife watches the fat people show with melissa mcCarthy. when i watch it, it's pretty funny. and it makes me feel thin. and i admit it, i watch the crap out of 'big bang theory'. i don't love it like i did seinfeld, but damn is it clever. 'raising hope' was hilarious. i haven't kept up with 'always sunny in philadelphia'. maybe because it was so damn gross sometimes. i ain't seen 'veep' or 'the mindy project'. the goldberg's, i think blows. and i like neil patrick harris, but i wouldn't watch 'how i met your mother' even if you threatened to throw a tv down a staircase at me like the mother did in that movie precious

I like Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think they've peaked a couple of seasons back, but I still find it one of the funniest shows on the little screen.
