time for the monkey alliance oscars after show. I did not think birdman deserved best picture or best director. however i think keaton deserved best actor. boyhood, which took linklater something like 15 years to make, was freakin' robbed! interstellar go nothing, and deserved even less. the kid who played stephen hawking (didn't see the movie!) i'm sure was real good, but i hear he campaigned hard for the award. glad that scuccubus merle streep didn't win a 398th oscar

it was backwards. the movie didn't deserve best picture or best director, but keaton did deserve best actor. it was a very restrained performance -- the best I've ever seen him -- i can't imagine any other actor doing the part except maybe nick cage ! jezus, imagine if clooney (okay maybe) ... or kilmer (?!!!) had done it. kilmer btw, is thin again! all it took was a throat tumor to do it

I've heard the Academy has a habit of giving Oscars to actors they feel they might have slighted in the past. For instance, Al Paccino didn't get Best Actor for The Godfather II, which he did deserve. So they gave it to him for Scent of a Woman, which he didn't deserve. So some time in the future, we'll probably see Michael Keaton get Best Actor for Mr. Mom II.
