I saw a Youtube video that syncs Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon album with the first 40 minutes or so of The Wizard of Oz. It works rather well, actually: There's a website ( Dark Side of the Rainbow) that discusses the whole thing and how well it syncs up, even if it was unintentional. One article I read on that site takes a different view and states that, while the sync with The Wizard of Oz may work better due to coincidence, The Dark Side of the Moon may actually have been intended to sync up to the first part of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and that a later part of the same film syncs up with another Pink Floyd song, "Echoes". Fascinating idea. I'll have to test it out sometime. Dark Side of the Moon Syncs to 2001: A Space Odyssey

This same subject came up this weekend when I was hanging out with some friends. One of them was talking about how her dad and his buddies would play the Wizard of Oz with the volume down while playing Dark Side of the Moon. Apparently, it's an old hippie/stoner tradition.
